The Bede Methodist Circuit is deeply saddened by the closure of the Hardman Centre. Whilst the Hardman Centre was run as an independent charity, it has been supported by the Circuit and local churches for more than 40 years. It is testament to all those involved that the charity operated for such a duration and we are proud of the heritage and the legacy which the Hardman Centre leaves behind. The Circuit offers gratitude to the charity Board and sincere thanks to all employees past and present, parents, families, volunteers and all who benefited from the service over the years.
Breath-taking coastline, rich green countryside, vibrant city life and culture. All this and more can be found within the Bede Circuit situated to the south of the river Tyne in northeast England.
This former industrial landscape now welcomes thousands of visitors from the UK and abroad every year who delight in discovering the hidden gems of the north and take an active part in the many events held here, including the "Great North Run" — most of which takes place in the Circuit area.
The internationally renowned "Angel of the North", Sage Concert Hall and Baltic modern art gallery in Gateshead; the Bowes Railway, Old Washington Hall and Penshaw Monument in Washington, the fine sandy beaches of South Shields and much more all lie within the bounds of this fascinating Methodist Circuit whose history spans more than 260 years.
